The purpose of this News Commentary Section is to assist the faithful in recognizing the signs and lies of These End Times. Somehow, many self appointed Shepherds of These Times are trying to convince the faithful that the Apocalypse will be, using street slang, "a piece of cake" for them and "hell" for all others. They are led to believe that if they "do this" and "do that" they do not have a thing to worry about (of course, so long as that between the "do this" and the "do that" they send in a donation).

Others lead the faithful to believe that "All Is Well" and will continue to be, of course, as long as those donations keep coming in...

No quick exit from West's economic malaise.

LONDON -Six years after the global financial crisis erupted, there is any number of explanations why Europe cannot shake off a recession and why the U.S. is experiencing sub-par growth and high unemployment.   Full Article

In God we trust, maybe, but not each other. (1) (2)

When you give your credit card to a cashier, do you worry that might be misused? If so, you're not alone. Two-thirds of Americans in an Associated Press-GfK poll say they have little confidence in the people who swipe their card in the reader.

More than half don't have much trust in the people who come into their homes to do work.

About 3 out of 5 lack confidence in people with whom they've shared information on social media.

Fifty percent have little trust in the people who prepare their food when they eat out.

But the people Americans trust the least are in Washington.

Only 2 percent say they trust the government to do what's right nearly all of the time.

miguel de Portugal comments: Even though the qualifier "maybe" tarnishes the "In God we trust" proclamation, at least the "megaphone" is making progress.

Putin meets the Pope in Rome. (1)

Pope Francis has welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Vatican for their first - ever meeting.

Talks between the two leaders focused on Syria with the Pope stressing the need to end the violence and bring assistance to the civilian population.

On the whole the meeting was described as cordial. Relations between the Catholic Church and Russia have long been uneasy because of accusations that the Vatican has tried to poach believers from the Orthodox Church, a charge it denies.

miguel de Portugal comments: The Russian Orthodox Church has the "Opus Dei Play Book" and they know that Russia is part of their "to be fulfilled" dreams.

N.S.A. May Have Hit Internet Companies at a Weak Spot. (1)

The recent revelation that the National Security Agency was able to eavesdrop on the communications of Google and Yahoo users without breaking into either companies' data centers sounded like something pulled from a Robert Ludlum spy thriller.

How on earth, the companies asked, did the N.S.A. get their data without them knowing about it?

People knowledgeable about Google and Yahoo's infrastructure say they believe that government spies bypassed the big Internet companies and hit them at a weak spot — the fiber-optic cables that connect data centers around the world.

The Internet companies' data centers are locked down with full-time security and state-of-the-art surveillance, including heat sensors and iris scanners. But between the data centers - on Level 3's fiber-optic cables that connected those massive computer farms - information was unencrypted and an easier target for government intercept efforts, according to three people with knowledge of Google's and Yahoo's systems who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

LG admitted that its Smart TVs were collecting user information, even if the feature was turned off(1)

LG Electronics, the world's second-largest television manufacturer, admitted that its Smart TVs were monitoring what consumers watched in order to deliver better advertisements. The South Korean company issued an apology and provided an update to the Smart TVs that allow customers to opt out of the feature.
LG said in its statement that the company's Smart TVs were in fact collecting information on channels, platforms and broadcast sources used by their customers, even when users turned off this feature.

"This information is collected as part of the Smart TV platform to deliver more relevant advertisements and to offer recommendations to viewers based on what other LG Smart TV owners are watching," LG said.

LG also confirmed reports that its Smart TVs collected the file names of media stored on external USB devices and transmitted them back to LG. LG said that the feature wasn't fully implemented, and "no personal data was ever collected or retained." The statement also said that the update would remove the feature from all LG Smart TVs.

miguel de Portugal comments: With this type of commercial spying going on, people just will not give the N.S.A. a rest!

As we have said over and over again - this commercial type of spying and data mining is many times over more serious and dangerous than the N.S.A. activities.

Our only concern regarding N.S.A. is their recruitment and screening methods which have allowed individuals like Snowden to be placed in highly sensitive positions. But, then again, if the N.S.A. is so sloppy in their employment practices, imagine how much sloppier the employment practices of  LG, Google, Amazon, Yahoo, etc. are!

May God help us all!

Man survives 60 hours at bottom of Atlantic. (1)

Entombed at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in an upended tugboat and dressed only in boxer shorts, Harrison Odjegba Okene begged God for a miracle.

A video of the Nigerian cook's rescue after 60 hours trapped in an air pocket was posted on the Internet this week more than six months after his rescue and has since gone viral.

As the temperature dropped to freezing, Okene recited the last psalm his wife had sent by text message, sometimes called the Prayer for Deliverance: "Oh God, by your name, save me. ... The Lord sustains my life."

To this day, Okene believes his rescue in May is a sign of divine deliverance. The other 11 seaman aboard the Jascon 4 died.

Dynamo (Steven Frayne) to receive honorary degree from Bradford University. (1)

Bradford magician Dynamo will be awarded an honorary degree by Bradford University during a graduation ceremony tomorrow.

The Magician Impossible star, 31, who grew up as Steven Frayne on Bradford's Delph Hill estate, will be made a Doctor of the University for his committment to his home city, improving opportunities for young people and his long-standing charity work.

The Bishop of Bradford, the Right Reverend Nick Baines, will also be awarded an honorary degree...

Vice Chancellor of the University, Brian Cantor, said: "The University of Bradford is honoured to have such distinguished guests at this year's award ceremonies.

"These eminent individuals are a credit to society and their respective professions. I hope their presence inspires our students to accomplish great things and to be driven in their future careers after they have graduated from the University."

miguel de Portugal comments: On January 18th, 2013, we wrote:

We know that there is a question regarding the "made to order False Christ candidate" that  is shared by many, yet, no one has asked us about it yet. In spite of that, it is the Will of God that we answer it for the benefit of all.

The question: If said individual has performed such beyond-Biblical miraculous feats for a variety of individuals (from street people all the way to billionaires) in many public, by-invitation-only events and strictly private places of the world, with audiences totaling over one billion spectators, why is he not a household word yet?

The answer, explained first in humorous terms, follows:

In the popular situation comedy of the late-sixties, Bewitched (1), wherein a witch married a mortal man, logically, supernatural events took place frequently. From time to time "mere mortals" caught a glimpse of some of those events, even if they were not supposed to. Events like a large house appearing from nowhere in a vacant lot and then disappearing again; or a fabulously expensive race car prototype, kept under lock and key, disappearing and then reappearing back at the factory with a very surprised driver at the wheel.

In those cases, there usually were a pair of outsiders, like two policemen investigating the appearing-disappearing house or the two mechanics responsible for the racing car, etc.

The concluding dialogue between the two men usually went like this: "If you don't tell anyone about the house (car), I will not either". The partner would then respond with a dumb face: "What house (car)?" To which the first one would respond, with great relief: "Yeah, right! There was no house (car)!" Thus the incident is "officially" removed from active memory data base  of the two characters.

Although the above exchange borders-on-the-stupid, it perfectly illustrates how humans process information. If they are not able to explain what they see, based on their world experience data base - and cannot say it was a trick/illusion because they know, without a shred of a doubt, that it was not, once they recover from the overwhelming amazement, they "just bury it" deep in their mind. It just doesn't fit at all in "their well categorized world", so it will be ignored.

On the other hand, if someone with authority, would tell the humans the "what" and "why" (notice, there is no "how" revealed) of the mysterious event they just witnessed, then it is accepted, becomes part of their data base and they will spread the information far and wide.

The answer, explained now in the most serious of terms, follows:

In spite of the fact of the innumerable miraculous feats Jesus Christ performed - many of them witnessed by Scribes and Pharisees (with the last one being the resurrection of a man, Lazarus, whose corpse was already decaying) - the Temple Masters still chose to kill Jesus. Intellectually, killing Jesus was a completely insane idea in the face of the well documented supernatural events He performed during the previous three years.

Since the Temple Masters were not able to explain, or refused to accept what they saw, based on their world experience data base,  they "just buried it" deep in their collective mind as if they never happened. It did not fit at all in "their well categorized world" so it was ignored in order to intellectually justify killing Jesus.... to avoid the masses from falling under the spell of what they themselves were denying as a reality.

Back to Mr. X - Imagine if, after literally walking on water or levitating at will, the Vatican or the Maitreya promoter or the New Age Movement spokesperson announces that Mr. X, for whom most anything has been obviously possible, is the expected Messiah.... There will be a "meltdown" of Twitter and Facebook accounts, e-mails, YouTube videos, and every news outlet in the world.

Once the "weird" and "unbelievable" events are endorsed by authoritative figures, the millions who have already seen him will "dig up" the memories carefully buried when they could not, as the saying goes, "wrap their heads around what they witnessed", and will start talking about it and sharing it, even with the walls.... just in case walls indeed had ears.

Back to Jesus - If when the Temple guards, who apprehended Jesus, brought Him to the Temple Masters there would have been another Transfiguration, we assure you, there would not have been a crucifixion.

That is why we said that Mr. X could become a household world - from Dubai to Singapore, from the US to Patagonia - in 24 to 48 hours if he has the endorsement of the "official faces" of the world.

Moody's gives a thumbs up to debt-laden Spain. (1)

Ratings agency Moody's has raised its outlook for Spain's economy from "negative" to "stable". It follows a similar move last week by Standard and Poor's.

Despite its debts and an unemployment rate of 26 percent Spain is said to be emerging from a two-year recession, with export growth and companies becoming more confident.

miguel de Portugal comments: We only publish the above to show our readers how worthless most of press reports are. As worthless, because of their manipulation, as the financial ratings.

The little money left in the pockets of the middle class is not spent because of the fear of what will happen next; a very well founded fear.

The Banks are not lending money to the small businesses unless they have money in their bank accounts or highly marketable assets. (Who needs to borrow money at high interest rates when you already have cash earning very little interest?

We would not be surprised at all if Opus Dei is now well represented within the rating agencies.

Pope forms commission to advise on sex abuse. (1)

Pope Francis is assembling a panel of experts to advise him on sex abuse in the clergy - a task that will involve looking at how to protect children from pedophiles, how to better screen men for the priesthood and how to help victims who have already been harmed.

But it remains unclear if the experts will take up one of the core issues behind the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal: how to make bishops who shelter abusive priests accountable.

miguel de Portugal comments: The first thing they should do - were this a serious commission and not part of the Bergoglio's Circus Vaticanus - is to see the magnitude of the consequences of sexual abuse, and then remove from office all Bishops who have been responsible for the great Pedo-Shuffle.

Of course, being this "one more commission" part of Bergoglio's Carnival, neither will be considered.

We wish to take this opportunity to enlist your prayers for the handful of members of religious orders, clergy and hierarchy who are truly trying to serve God as He Wills and find themselves encircled by "adulterous generation" of Christianity. They need all of your support so that they may go forth, unafraid, and make available valid Sacraments to the true children of God who are thirsting for them worldwide.

Disgraced priest to wed pope adviser's daughter. (1)

Thomas Williams, the onetime public face of the disgraced Legion of Christ religious order who left the priesthood after admitting he fathered a child, is getting married this weekend to the child's mother, The Associated Press has learned. The bride is the daughter of former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Mary Ann Glendon, one of Pope Francis' top advisers.

Mary Ann Glendon, a Harvard University law professor, is one of the highest-ranking women at the Vatican as president of the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences. She is also one of five people on Francis' commission to reform the scandal-marred Vatican bank. Her daughter, Elizabeth Lev, is a Rome-based art historian and columnist for the Legion-run Zenit news agency, which Williams published for over a decade while he was in the order.

"Father" Thomas Williams, a moral theologian, author, lecturer and U.S. television personality, admitted last year that he had fathered a child several years earlier.

At the time, Williams apologized for "this grave transgression" against his vows of celibacy and said he had stayed on as a priest because he hoped to move beyond "this sin in my past" to do good work for the church. The Legion's retired superior later admitted he had learned about the child in 2005 but allowed Williams to keep teaching and preaching about morality.

After taking a year off for reflection, Williams left the priesthood in May to care for his son.

Until he left active ministry, Williams was the most publicly prominent priest in the 900-strong order. He is the author of such books as 2008's "Knowing Right From Wrong: A Christian Guide to Conscience," and was a commentator for the U.S. broadcaster CBS. He was the superior of the Legion's general directorate in Rome in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

miguel de Portugal comments: Once again, events confirm that: Birds of a feather flock together.

We could write a whole document based on the statements and apologies made by Williams, but time is short and he is not worthy of our very limited time - not even to virtually mop St. Peter's Square with him and his bride.

Hypocrisy and duplicity are not considered virtues by God even though those anti-virtues have ruled Vatican City for centuries.

Jim Rogers Cautions "Be Prepared, Be Worried, And Be Careful... This Is Going To End Badly" (1)

"Eventually, the whole world is going to collapse," Jim Rogers chides a disquieted CBC anchor as he explains the reality that, "we in the West have staggering debts. The United States is the largest debtor nation in the history of the world," adding that "this is going to end badly."

Rogers, in his inimitable way, sums up the state iof euphoria that many markets find themselves in thus, "we are all floating around on a sea of artificial liquidity right now. This is not going to last."

On the next crisis: "2008 was so much worse than 2000 because the debt was so much higher, you wait until 2014 or 2015 when the next crisis hits... debt has gone through the roof, the next one's gonna be really bad"

His final words: "Be prepared, be worried, and be careful"

James Beeland "Jim" Rogers, Jr. is an American businessman, investor and author. He is currently based in Singapore. Rogers is the Chairman of Rogers Holdings and Beeland Interests, Inc. He was the co-founder of the Quantum Fund with George Soros and creator of the Rogers International Commodities Index (RICI). (2)

miguel de Portugal comments: He has no idea how bad it will really be. In a scale of 1 to 100, his "End Badly" ranks barely a one compared to the Chastisement, which ranks a full 100. Spies worry over "doomsday" cache stashed by ex-NSA contractor Snowden. (1)

British and U.S. intelligence officials say they are worried about a "doomsday" cache of highly classified, heavily encrypted material they believe former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden has stored on a data cloud.

The data is protected with sophisticated encryption, and multiple passwords are needed to open it, said two of the sources, who like the others spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

The passwords are in the possession of at least three different people and are valid for only a brief time window each day, they said. The identities of persons who might have the passwords are unknown.

One source described the cache of still unpublished material as Snowden's "insurance policy" against arrest or physical harm.

Snowden, who is believed to have downloaded between 50,000 and 200,000 classified NSA and British government documents,.... it is estimated that the total number of Snowden documents made public so far is over 500.

.miguel de Portugal comments: Think of this: If "the cache of still unpublished material as Snowden's 'insurance policy' against arrest or physical harm." all that any enemy State or group, who may want to cause tremendous damage to the U.S. and U.K., has to do is abduct or kill Mr. Snowden and make it look that either the U.S. or U.K. intelligence services are/were behind it.

As you may see - it is only God Who is preventing the world from falling into absolute chaos. When the time comes, He will allow any of the many active and in place triggering mechanisms to be activated for its collapse.

In case no one has yet noticed.... with the worldwide military and financial clout the U.S. has, this poor excuse for a man holds the U.S. and the U.K. hostage.

Putin closes main state news agency as he tightens his control over Russian media. (1) (2)

President Vladimir Putin today tightened his control over Russia's media by dissolving the main state news agency and replacing it with an organisation that is to promote Moscow's image abroad.

With the stroke of a pen, Putin abolished RIA Novosti and created a news agency to be known as Rossiya Segodnya, or Russia Today.

... Putin's decree appeared to have little effect on the two other major Russian news agencies, state-run Itar-Tass and private Interfax, but it could benefit both by making RIA's replacement less of a competitor domestically.

Itar-Tass is the successor of the Soviet official Tass agency, while Interfax has more leeway as a private agency but is restricted by the Kremlin's dominance.

The new head of Rossiya Segodnya has been described as a 'powerful propagandist' by a prominent member of parliament, Alexei Mitrofanov.

If a Story Is Viral, Truth May Be Taking a Beating. (1)

Truth has never been an essential ingredient of viral content on the Internet. But in the stepped-up competition for readers, digital news sites are increasingly blurring the line between fact and fiction, and saying that it is all part of doing business in the rough-and-tumble world of online journalism.

Several recent stories rocketing around the web, picking up millions of views, turned out to be fake or embellished: a Twitter tale of a Thanksgiving feud on a plane, later described by the writer as a short story; a child’s letter to Santa that detailed an link in crayon, but was actually written by a grown-up comedian in 2011; and an essay on poverty that prompted $60,000 in donations until it was revealed by its author to be impressionistic rather than strictly factual.

Their creators describe them essentially as online performance art, never intended to be taken as fact. But to the media outlets that published them, they represented the lightning-in-a-bottle brew of emotion and entertainment that attracts readers and brings in lucrative advertising dollars.

Pope Francis is Time's Person of the Year. (1)

Pope Francis, who has grabbed headlines for befriending a rabbi, sneaking out to help the homeless, and hanging out with kids, is Time's Person of the Year.
The leader of the Roman Catholic Church edged out nine other finalists, including National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and gay marriage advocate Edith Windsor, for the honor.

Obama was Time's 2012 Person of the Year. But the pope, who the magazine said has changed the tone of the church since succeeding Pope Benedict earlier this year, was selected this year's POY recipient, given to someone who has the "most impact on our lives, for better or worse."

"Rarely has a new player on the world stage captured so much attention so quickly - young and old, faithful and cynical - as has Pope Francis," Time managing editor Nancy Gibbs wrote. "In his nine months in office, he has placed himself at the very center of the central conversations of our time: about wealth and poverty, fairness and justice, transparency, modernity, globalization, the role of women, the nature of marriage, the temptations of power.

"He is embracing complexity and acknowledging the risk that a church obsessed with its own rights and righteousness could inflict more wounds than it heals," Gibbs continued.

Amish school shooter's kin: Horror, then healing. (1)

Once a week, Terri Roberts spends time with a 13-year-old Amish girl named Rosanna who sits in a wheelchair and eats through a tube. Roberts bathes her, sings to her, reads her stories. She can only guess what's going on inside Rosanna's mind because the girl can't talk.

Roberts' son did this to her.

Seven years ago, Charles Carl Roberts IV barricaded himself inside an Amish schoolhouse near Lancaster, tied up 10 girls and opened fire, killing five and injuring five others before committing suicide as police closed in.

The Amish responded by offering immediate forgiveness to the killer — even attending his funeral — and embracing his family.

Terri Roberts forgave, too, and now she is sharing her experience with others, saying the world needs more stories about the power of forgiveness and the importance of seeking joy through adversity.

"I realized if I didn't forgive him, I would have the same hole in my heart that he had. And a root of bitterness never brings peace to anyone," Roberts said. "We are called to forgive."

miguel de Portugal comments: That is what Christianity is all about.

Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. [Luke 23:34]

Pope must decide what to do with disgraced Legion. (1)

First, one of the Legion of Christ's top officials abruptly quit the troubled religious order in frustration over the slow pace of change. Then priests in the cult-like movement empowered proteges and associates of the order's disgraced founder, the Rev. Marcial Maciel, to vote for their next leader.

In a recent interview with a Spanish-language online journal, Vida Nueva, the Rev. Sylvester Heereman said that regardless of the bad things Maciel did, "he continues to be someone to whom I owe a lot, whom I remember with a mixture of gratitude and compassion, even though I understand and respect those who personally suffered and cannot share those feelings."

Recently, a senior member of the Legion's consecrated lay branch, Alejandro Pinelo Leon, visited Maciel's tomb in Cotija, Mexico, on a pilgrimage of sorts: "Our founder teaches us many things and before his tomb I got emotional and thanked him for all that I learned about God from him," he wrote on Facebook.

The Rev. Thomas Berg, an American priest who left the Legion in 2009, said such nostalgia shows that a considerable portion of the Legion membership is still unable to shake itself from Maciel's toxic influence.

"The continual resurgence in private and public of the story-line that Macial is a 'flawed instrument,' but an instrument of God no less, is proof in the pudding that the purification has not gone deep enough," he said.

As the Legion heads into the General Chapter, many answers still remain unanswered about who in the Legion and the Vatican were responsible for facilitating or covering up Maciel's crimes - an investigation that the Vatican and the Legion have so far ruled out conducting because it would likely point to complicity by senior Vatican cardinals.

Other questions have recently emerged about who knew about cases of sex abuse by other Legionaries, and about a child born to the Legion's most prominent priest who was allowed to continue preaching and teaching morality for over seven years before he left the priesthood and recently wed the mother.

Officials Say U.S. May Never Know Extent of Snowden's Leaks. (1)

American intelligence and law enforcement investigators have concluded that they may never know the entirety of what the former National Security Agency contractor Edward J. Snowden extracted from classified government computers before leaving the United States, according to senior government officials.

Investigators remain in the dark about the extent of the data breach partly because the N.S.A. facility in Hawaii where Mr. Snowden worked - unlike other N.S.A. facilities - was not equipped with up-to-date software that allows the spy agency to monitor which corners of its vast computer landscape its employees are navigating at any given time.

Six months since the investigation began, officials said Mr. Snowden had further covered his tracks by logging into classified systems using the passwords of other security agency employees, as well as by hacking firewalls installed to limit access to certain parts of the system.

Take down the cross! (1)

A massive cross that serves as part of a war memorial on a San Diego hilltop must be dismantled because it has been found to violate a constitutional ban on government endorsement of religion, a federal judge grudgingly ruled on Thursday.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Larry Burns marks the latest development in a long-running legal battle over the 43-foot-tall cross, a local landmark that has stood on top of Mount Soledad since 1954 and is visible for miles.

"This is a victory for religious liberty," said Daniel Mach, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's program on freedom of religion and belief who argued the matter for the plaintiffs in a hearing before Burns on Thursday.

"We firmly support the government's efforts to honor the service of those who fought and died for this country, but there are many ways to do that without playing favorites with religion," Mach said.

miguel de Portugal comments:  Democracy is defined as: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

It follows that such government, elected democratically, represents the majority.

Considering that the majority of Americans (73 - 80%) identify themselves as Christians (2), the overwhelming majority of Americans would be agreeable with keeping the cross on top of Mount Soledad in San Diego.

We view this legal ruling, an similar ones, as an encroachment on the fundamental principles of a democratic system and inconsistent with the spirit upon our nation was founded.

In summary: Such legal rulings are illegal!

If less than 50% of Americans identified themselves as Christians, then, Mr. Mach's claim would be a reasonable one.

The only reason why Mr. Mach and individuals of similar mentality get away with this kind of behavior is because, even though 73 - 80% of American identify thmselves as Christians, probably less than 5 % strive to live what Jesus Christ taught by word and deed. (3)

But we have a "Plan B" to save the cross.....

If the appropriate authorities re-dedicate the cross of the monument to the memory of the Christians who gave their lives in war, no one can complain.... and should  Mr. Mach raise the issue that the money of all taxpayers (
Christians and not Christians) was used to erect the cross, may he be reminded that the majority rules in a Democracy and that 73 - 80 % of Americans identify themselves as Christian. End of discussion!

Francis: "When Church lacks prophecy the vacuum is filled by legalism and therefore clericalism.(1)

In the Gospel the "priests went to Jesus to ask for his stamp of authority: ' By what authority are you doing these things?' We are the masters of the Temple'". "They did not understand the prophecies. They had forgotten the promise! They did not know how to read the signs of the time, they had neither piercing eyes, nor hearing for the Word of God: they only had authority ."

miguel de Portugal comments: And you, Francis, have forgotten what Mary have said - and confirmed - over and over again. (2)

Amazingly enough people do not realize the the "finest wool is being pulled over their eyes".... but then again, that is the natural way of separating the wheat from the chaff. Those who have Eyes to See, will spot the deception in time. Those who do not, will be lost.

If he believed what he is programming the Faithful with, he would be wearing his shoes on his knees for all we can do now is cushion the blows which are already pummeling humanity.

Five Philadelphia priests suspended, one accused of sexual abuse. (1)

The Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, battered since 2011 by a high-profile child sex abuse scandal, said on Sunday it had placed another five priests on administrative leave, including one accused of sexual abuse.

Following a church investigation Archbishop Charles J. Chaput determined that there was a substantiated case of sexual abuse of a minor against a 58-year-old priest identified as Michael A. Chapman, according to a church statement. It gave no further details on the allegation.

miguel de Portugal comments: Another five priests? "Another" implies that there was another batch of priests suspended before this group. At least Chaput is not on the list of stained hierarchs (2) which lends some  credibility to his actions.

Collapse of the universe closer than previously thought. (1)

Maybe it happens tomorrow. Maybe in a billion years. Physicists have long predicted that the universe may one day collapse, and that everything in it will be compressed to a small hard ball.

New calculations from physicists at the University of Southern Denmark now confirm this prediction - and they also conclude that the risk of a collapse is even greater than previously thought.

Sooner or later a radical shift in the forces of the universe will cause every little particle in it to become extremely heavy. Everything - every grain of sand on Earth, every planet in the solar system and every galaxy - will become millions of billions times heavier than it is now, and this will have disastrous consequences: The new weight will squeeze all material into a small, super hot and super heavy ball, and the universe as we know it will cease to exist.

miguel de Portugal comments: Hallelujah! Scientists finally got something worthwhile right!

Although it will be sooner than later, not to worry.... since it will not happen until the year 2832 A.D.

However, we better worry about the impending chastisement in which many will be pleading for the Universe to end then and there!

Guards at U.K. nuclear weapons facility slept on the job, skipped routine patrols. (1)

Police officers of the U.K. Ministry of Defense police, assigned to guard Britain's nuclear weapons, are under investigation after it has been reported that they had slept on the job and failed to complete routine patrols at a nuclear weapons facility.

The Guardian reports that seven officers at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) in Burghfield, Berkshire, have already resigned without facing disciplinary charges.

AWE is the location of the complex final assembly of nuclear weapons, and also where the U.K. nuclear warheads are maintained and decommissioned.

The Ministry of Defense has created a 2,700-strong police unit specifically for guarding the AWE facility.

miguel de Portugal comments: Allow us to illustrate to you the level of irresponsible sloppiness in what you read above.

During the time that I was closely associated with the petrochemical industry, entering shut down reactors; climbing those huge towers seen as one drives past petrochemical complexes; spending sleepless nights monitoring some major "industrial size" experiments; showing up unannounced at the petrochemical facilities at any time of the day and night - I never, EVER, found any of the chemical operators violating any of the many, many security regulations we had for the safe operation of  the petrochemical plants. Plants which contained enough poison to wipe out an entire city.

Now these 21st century punks - yes, you read that right, "PUNKS" (2) - cannot even stay awake on a job that is many times more potentially lethal than a petrochemical plant.

That is how far gone society - at all levels - is.

Benedict XVI is theologically in tune with Francis, says German professor. (1)
Manfred Lütz, who has known Ratzinger for over 30 years and paid a visit to him in recent days, revealed that the Pope Emeritus believes he and his successor are on the same wavelength when it comes to theological thought.
Professor Manfred Lütz, a German psychologist and theologian and a friend and colleague of Ratzinger's has made a new anew and important contribution to the debate over the degree of continuity between the Francis and Benedict XVI pontificates. In a recent interview with the Catholic News Agency, Lütz said he still kept in touch with Ratzinger and even met with him recently.
Ratzinger still considers himself in "the service of St. Peter, that he lives the service of St. Peter in another way." Lütz revealed. “He's praying, and this is an important aspect, he said, of the service of St. Peter.”  Benedict XVI was “old physically” but  “mentally he was very good. He had a better memory than me!” Lütz said.
The professor added that the Pope Emeritus and Francis have a common vision on various aspects. For example they both believe the Church must not become worldly and must not be tempted by worldly power. "Benedict said to us that he also has the impression that theologically he is very in the same line with Pope Francis," Lütz said.

Ratzinger's clear (and yet very quickly forgotten and shelved) criticism of ecclesiastical careerism, remains embedded in our memories. Another memorable message was the one the Pope Emeritus pronounced in Portugal back in 2010, about the need to return to the proclamation of the faith because stressing the importance of values in the modern world is not enough. The two also share the idea that the Church cannot be seen as a business based on human plans and strategies.
It is not surprising therefore that Ratzinger should feel theologically in tune with Francis, despite the obvious differences in character and background between the mild-mannered Bavarian professor and the "bishop/priest from the streets" who came "from the other side o the world."

miguel de Portugal comments: The above shows how firmly they believe that the Faithful rank and file continue to be easily manipulated by those who have have spent 1600 years doing it.... and they are right!

As we have said before, the Christian faith which will have the greatest percentage of its members lost eternally is the Roman Catholic Church..... even though the Catholic Faith, practiced in its purest form, contains the greatest amount of Divinely revealed Truths of any other Faith - Christian or not.

It is precisely because of that gift, which God has protected for us until now, that He will not accept any excuses from those who have replaced Him with the Vatican Circus.

40 million Target card accounts may be breached. (1)

Target says that about 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been affected by a data breach that occurred just as the holiday shopping season shifted into high gear.

The chain said that accounts of customers who made purchases by swiping their cards at terminals in its U.S. stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15 may have been exposed. The stolen data includes customer names, credit and debit card numbers, card expiration dates and the three-digit security codes located on the backs of cards. The data breach did not affect online purchases.

The Minneapolis company said it immediately told authorities and financial institutions once it became aware of the breach...

Nonetheless, we must praise Target for immediately disclosing the breach and not do as many others have done - delaying it as much as they could legally afford to.

Amazon: Nearly 20 Years In Business And It Still Doesn't Make Money, But Investors Don't Seem To Care.

So what's with Wall Street's love affair with The company barely ekes out a profit, spends a fortune on expansion and free shipping, almost defiantly brags that it sells items like the e-reader Kindle for less than they cost to manufacture, and is famously opaque about its business operations.

Yet, investors continue to pour into the stock, pushing up the company's share price to $388, a nearly 400 percent rise since the end of the company’s third quarter in September 2008.

At that time, Amazon's net profit margin was 2.8 percent. By September 2011, that number fell to 0.6 percent. A year later, it was losing $274 million on net sales of $13.8 billion. And in the latest quarter, ended Sept. 30, the massive e-tailer reported a $41 million loss on $17 billion in sales.

This is the first of a three-part series examining Amazon's business model. Tomorrow, we will probe the company's labor practices, and on Friday we will explore the company's impact on small retailers. (1)

Vatican's calendar boys go on sale. (1)

The latest entirely unofficial Hot Priests calendar is out in Rome and Venice. Known as the Vatican beefcake calendar by locals, it began in 2003 when a photographer had the idea – and has since become an international cult item.

While there are some doubts about whether or not the handsome young men featured are all clerics, there is little doubt some will be hot under the collar, and Mr April should see more than just Jesus rising again. But vanity, some may say, is a deadly sin. For the church however, facing recruitment problems and an aging priesthood, the calendar is seen as ideal publicity and a way of presenting a more modern face.

miguel de Portugal comments: Utterly revolting! Babylon an her children strike again!

Although it is not an "official" Vatican calendar, this blasphemous act would not happen if the "Princes" of the Church wished to stop it.

In Mark 13:2 we hear what Jesus said regarding the future of the Temple in Jerusalem: "There shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down."

In the case of what the Vatican represents, not even the stones will be left when God allows upon it what He has amply warned them about.

miguel de Portugal comments: Finally! Some good news!! Actually, there have been two sets of good news yesterday. The other one.....

In Spain, a petty burglar burglarized the residence of a salon football player trainer. He stole the usual fare of petty burglars: Electrical appliances, TV, camera, tapes, etc.

When he was "inventorying" his loot he found some tapes of child pornography, with the resident of the place burglarized being the abuser of a string of young boys. The burglar, Bless his heart!, anonymously turned all that information to the police which immediately arrested the abuser and who is now being processed for said crimes.

I sincerely hope that the Police does not make much much of an effort in trying to find and charge with burglary the "Good thief", as he is now being billed by the local media.

1 Behold, I send My messenger, and he shall clear the way before Me; and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to His temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in, behold, he cometh, saith HaShem (the Triune God) of hosts.

2 But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap;

3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and there shall be they that shall offer unto HaShem (the Triune God) offerings in righteousness.

4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto HaShem (the Triune God), as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.

23 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

24 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

miguel de Portugal comments: The above is the first reading of today's Mass. We chose to use the original Hebrew text and not used the Christianized version of it. As it turned out, the original Hebrew version is more Christian than the Christianized version since a very clear distinction is made between HaShem, the Triune God, the Lord,  the Messiah.

The "sons of Levi" represent the priestly class and it is obvious that through Malachi God was speaking about the End of These Times - Now! - and not about the First Coming of Christ - although, it could be prophetically applied to both First and Second Coming.

Atheists, work with us for peace, Pope says on Christmas. (1)

Pope Francis, celebrating his first Christmas as Roman Catholic leader, on Wednesday called on atheists to unite with believers of all religions and work for "a homemade peace" that can spread across the world. "Peace is a daily commitment. It is a homemade peace," he said.

He said that people of other religions were also praying for peace, and - departing from his prepared text - he urged atheists to join forces with believers.

"I invite even non-believers to desire peace. (Join us) with your desire, a desire that widens the heart. Let us all unite, either with prayer or with desire, but everyone, for peace," he said, drawing sustained applause from the crowd.

Francis's reaching out to atheists and people of other religions is a marked contrast to the attitude of former Pope Benedict, who sometimes left non-Catholics feeling that he saw them as second-class believers.

miguel de Portugal comments: When will most - specially the world leaders - finally realize that Peace is only the product of Justice and Justice is the product of living the fundamental instructions from God, underscored by the specific and crystal clear Words of Jesus Christ? Peace cannot - and will not! -  be achieved any other way.

All else is hollow babble which will produce no fruit whatsoever, as the state of the world proves..... except leading more souls to despair en route to perdition, as the state of the world is confirming.

There will never be Peace unless Justice is first established on Earth.... and only the Messiah, Jesus, will be the One to do so.... after God has uses His Megaphone.

Assessing the Terrorist Threat to the Sochi Olympics
December 23rd, 2013

On July 3rd 2013, in a video published on YouTube that was almost immediately taken down, Doku Umarov, the self-proclaimed emir of a Caucasus Emirate in the southwest of the Russian Federation, lifted the moratorium on military operations targeting civilians that he unilaterally declared several months ago. He also called on his troops to do everything possible to oppose and to prevent the proper execution of the Sochi Winter Games in February 2014. The Caucasian leader could not forego this ideal occasion to remind the world of the enduring struggle led first by the Chechens in their fight for independence (1994-2005) and then taken up by a very loose network of Islamist armed groups that thrived in the neighboring republics of Dagestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria. American whistleblower Edward Snowden gave Britain's Alternative Christmas message. (1)

Formerly a contract worker with the National Security Agency, he revealed details of surveillance by both the UK and US. He says the spying is worse than in the dystopic book 1984:

"Great Britain's George Orwell warned us of the danger of this kind of information. The types of collection in the book – microphones, video cameras and TVs that watch us – are nothing compared to what we have available today," said Snowden.

And he went on with this warning for the future:

"A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They'll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves, an unrecorded unanalysed thought."

Snowden disclosed thousands of documents detailing an intensive surveillance that swept up massive amounts of information on ordinary citizens.

Extensive use of antibiotics in agriculture creating public health crisis. (1)

In the United States, 80 percent of the antibiotics are consumed in agriculture and aquaculture for the purpose of increasing food production.

This flood of antibiotics released into the environment - sprayed on fruit trees and fed to the likes of livestock, poultry, and salmon, among other uses - has led bacteria to evolve.

Mounting evidence shows resistant pathogens are emerging in the wake of this veritable flood of antibiotics - resulting in an increase in bacteria that is immune to available treatments.

Scientists say that if the problem is left unchecked, this will create a health crisis on a global scale.

FEMEN crashes Christmas service, nude woman plays Christ in Church. (1)

One of Christendom's most sacred days… in the main cathedral of Cologne, Germany: the High Cathedral of St. Peter. The setting is Gothic, dating from the 13th century. What can possibly go wrong?

Christmas mass is being aired live. Thousands of pious Catholics fill the pews. Then, shouting at the top of her lungs, naked from the waist up, 20-year-old philosophy student Josephine Witt shoots from the congregation and bounces up high onto the altar!

She is an activist with the feminist movement FEMEN. Daubed in dark paint on her breasts and abdomen are the words 'I AM GOD!'

The FEMEN press service reported on Wednesday: "The activist climbed the altar to protest Vatican propaganda for the criminalisation of abortion."
miguel de Portugal comments: We wonder what the pro abortion activists would say to the following theoretical proposal....

Hold a binding referendum where the right of a woman to abort her child would be approved only if any citizen is also given the right the kill whomever he/she finds to be an inconvenience or an annoyance.

We suspect that the referendum would yield an overwhelming "No!"

Should a proponent claim that killing an unborn child is not the same as killing an individual already born.... That objection is not a problem!

When the pro abortion camp provides absolute proof that an unborn child is not a human being, with the exact same rights of those outside the womb, then abortion could be approved.

Case closed!

US Roman Catholic church official seeks bail; conviction quashed. (1)

A Roman Catholic church official sentenced to prison for his handling of priest-abuse cases had his conviction overturned, and may soon be back before a judge for bail.

Monsignor William Lynn had served 18 months of his three- to six-year term for child endangerment before the state Superior Court overturned the felony conviction on Thursday.

The three-judge panel unanimously rejected arguments that Lynn, the first U.S. church official ever charged or convicted for the handling of clergy-abuse complaints, was legally responsible for an abused boy's welfare.

Defense lawyers have argued that Lynn, 62, was convicted under a law passed years after he left his post at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Defense lawyers hoped for his immediate release from prison, but the appeals court sent the bail issue back to the trial court. That could put Lynn back before Common Pleas Judge M. Teresa Sarmina, who had repeatedly denied defense efforts to have the case dropped before trial.

Sarmina concluded that Lynn perhaps drafted a 1994 list of accused priests to try to address the clergy abuse problem. But when Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua had the list destroyed, Lynn chose to remain and keep quiet, she said. Sarmina, in sentencing Lynn in July 2012, had said the church administrator had "enabled monsters in clerical garb ... to destroy the souls of children," rather than stand up to his bishop.

miguel de Portugal comments: Although it is a clear case of white-wash sponsored by some of the controlling "beatitudes" amongst the hierarchy, Lynn should be released.

He already served 18 months - which will be unforgettable to him. In addition, the message was sent to the rest of the criminal-by-default hierarchy that they are no longer immune to be jailed for cover up activities.

The lessons have been well learned by all parties, so.... what is the use of prolonging Lynn's misery?

Let us not forget: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [Matt. 5:7]
